Welcome to Cure Alliance! We are delighted that you have decided to visit our website. We are planning regular blog entries from diverse writers on a variety of subjects and issues that we believe you will find interesting. My name is Robin Cunningham. I am a co-founder of Cure Alliance for Mental Illness, along with Hakon Heimer, and I’d like to start this blog by telling you a little bit about myself and why I chose to become involved in Cure Alliance. I have what I call a “checkered past.” I’ve been a Teamster, a technician in a virus lab, and a scuba diver in oceanography.  I’ve worked in a lumber mill and on Wall Street. We Did It!

Cure Alliance Launches on February 2 Cure Alliance for Mental Illness welcomed an enthusiastic crowd Feb. 2 at our official launch at PeaceLove Studios in downtown Pawtucket, Rhode Island, and we would like to thank all our supporters who made the evening possible! A raffle for artworks and other items, along with donations at the door, raised $1300, as participants enjoyed jazz piano music from Keith Munslow and a variety of foods donated by local restaurants or made by friends. Cure Alliance co-founder Robin Cunningham (learn more about Robin  and co-founder Hakon Heimer here) described the need for an organization focused on increasing research for better treatments for mental disorders. Cure Alliance Launch Party!

Cure Alliance for Mental Illness, a new national organization that promotes research on mental illness, will hold its launch party Thursday, February 2, 2012, in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. The event will be held from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. at PeaceLove Studios, 171 Main St. in the Downtown Pawtucket, RI, and will feature food, drinks, and music donated by local enterprises, as well as a raffle of art and culinary prizes. Cure Alliance for Mental Illness is the brainchild of Hakon Heimer, a Rhode Island-based science editor, and Robin Cunningham, a retired finance banker living in New Jersey (Learn more in About Us.).
